THE INVITATIONS

Invitation can be obtained from any good news agents, or greeting card shop quite inexpensively or by your local printer if you have a large number of children to invite. Photocopied invitations can look very attractive reproduced on light pastel shade card that can be obtained from art supply shops, or W.H. Smiths etc.

SENDING INVITATIONS OUT

Although it is good training in the social skills to allow your child to give out the party invitations personally. I know of a few horror stories were the birthday child, had given invitations, to children who were not originally going to be invited to the party, for what ever reason.

This misunderstanding, causing much embarrassment on the part of the birthday child's parents, when they were informed of this mix up. Difficult situations such as this can only have one outcome, either an upset child, or a larger party list than was originally anticipated. I even heard of one mother, who received a telephone call from their child's class teacher on the planned afternoon of the party, to inform her that she had just found 20 undelivered party invitations in one of Peter's work books.

For peace of mind on your part, give the invitation directly to the invited child's parents, or let your own child give it to their friend in sight of yourself, and then check that their parent has received it. Send the invitations out approximately 3 week before the party and always try to get a direct verbal answer from one of the parents, (not via your son or daughter).
